The most imposing building on Earth taller than Burj Khalifa greater than the Great Wall of China – is an underwater neutrino detector

A daring project, a consortium of 40 research institutes and universities in 10 European countries will lead to a giant in the Mediterranean neutrino observatory. KM3NeT Consortium will open a new window to the universe. The new observatory and neutrino detector will manage their detection and energy sources due to X-ray bursts, which occur in collisions between stars and supernovae.

The project consists in building a platform located at a depth of 914 meters in the Mediterranean, making it the largest structure ever built on Earth, after the Great Wall. Structure on a surface detection will be impressive, exceeding 3 cubic meters volume installations. Researchers involved in KM3NeT, compare the height of a tower of neutrino detector, with the tallest building on Earth, with a height of Burj Khalifa 828 meters.
